The Bogey Hole

the Bogey Hole in Newcastle is one of the most unique swimming spots I’ve ever been to. If you’re up for a little adventure and a dose of adrenaline, then the Bogey Hole is definitely worth a visit.
The first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the limited parking spaces. It’s a popular spot, so be prepared to park on the side of the road if needed. But don’t let that deter you! (Too much hassle? You might want to escape to Myall Lakes National Park?) The walk down to the Bogey Hole is short and scenic, with beautiful views over the ocean.
Once you arrive, you’ll see a natural rock pool that’s been filled with sea water. It’s a beautiful spot, and the water is usually super clear. However, after recent rain, it can be a little murky. But trust me, it’s still worth a swim.
Now, I know what you’re thinking… The Bogey Hole looks a little intimidating, and the waves can be rough. But fear not! Once you’re in the water, you’ll see that you can control your body against the waves, and you can even reach the ground with your feet. Just be sure to leave your belongings a little higher on the staircase, as some waves can come in pretty high.
And if you’re feeling really brave, you can even swim out to the side and experience the thrill of the waves crashing against the rocks. It’s not too deep, but watch out for the uneven rocks.
If swimming isn’t your thing, the Bogey Hole is still a great spot for photography or just standing and watching the awesomeness of nature. And if you’re lucky enough to visit early in the morning, you might even have it all to yourself.
One word of caution though, don’t attempt to visit at high tide or during angry surf, or you might disappear into the depths like a shipwreck. But as long as you’re careful and respectful of the power of the ocean, the Bogey Hole is an amazing experience.
All in all, the Bogey Hole is a hidden gem in Newcastle that’s definitely worth a visit. So, grab your sunscreen and your sense of adventure, and head down to this breathtaking paradise. Just don’t forget to take a towel and change of clothes, because you might get a little wet!
Kind regards,
