Narana Aborigional Centre
I recently visited the Geelong history and if you’re looking for an awesome place to learn about Aboriginal culture and history, let me tell you about Narana Cultural Centre. I recently visited this fantastic attraction and was blown away by the experience. As someone who loves learning about different cultures, I can honestly say that Narana is one of the best cultural centres I’ve visited in Australia.
The centre is located in a beautiful area just off Torquay Road in Victoria. When I arrived, I was pleased to find plenty of free parking spaces available. As soon as I walked through the entrance, I was greeted by friendly staff who gave me a rundown of all the activities available.
One of the highlights of my visit was getting to feed the animals in the large enclosure. There were wallabies, kangaroos, and even an emu that were all very friendly and happy to eat from my hand. Just a word of advice though, save the emu for last because it will eat everything if given the chance! I also got to see some more emus in a separate enclosure, although they weren’t as friendly.
If you’re interested in art, the gallery at Narana is a must-visit. The exhibits showcase amazing Aboriginal art and artifacts, including films of some of the artists at work. The colours and patterns are mesmerising and truly draw you into the paintings. I could have spent hours admiring the art!
The centre also offers cultural tours that give you a hands-on experience of Aboriginal culture. During my tour, I learned how to play the didgeridoo and even got to try some indigenous foods. I also had the opportunity to throw a boomerang, which was a lot harder than it looks! The tour was led by a knowledgeable guide who had a deep understanding of Aboriginal history and culture.
After all that activity, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Fortunately, Cafe Narana offers a wide variety of snacks and meals. The portions are generous and delicious, making it the perfect place to refuel after exploring the centre. And if you’re in the mood for some shopping, the gift shop has a fantastic selection of unique gifts and souvenirs.
The food at Cafe Narana is amazing and the gift shop seems to be a hit as well, with many people commenting on the high-quality gifts and souvenirs available.
Highly recommend a visit to Narana Cultural Centre. Whether you’re interested in learning about Aboriginal history and culture, or just want to hang out with some adorable animals and admire beautiful art, Narana has something for everyone. Plus, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the cafe and gift shop are fantastic. So what are you waiting for? Go check it out! After this the Eastern Beach Reserve is a nice place to go for a walk and activities.
